Bowflex was one of the original adjustable dumbbell brands. They have been around for a long time and have a good reputation. Here’s the latest on Bowflex availability in Australia:
Are Bowflex Adjustable Dumbbells Available in Australia
Bowflex Adjustable Dumbbells are available in Australia for Rebel Sport. Rebel doesn’t stock the entire Bowflex range. They currently are selling the Bowflex 560 adjustable dumbbell. These dumbbells have a max weight of 27.2kg. They also have a square profile which is similar to Ironmaster Dumbbells but with a faster change mechanism.
The one unique feature in the Bowflex dumbbells is the integrated bluetooth sensor. This sensor can automatically record the sets, reps and the weight you are using. It’s a nifty little feature, but is definitely something you can live without.
Are Bowflex Adjustable Dumbbells Worth It?
Bowflex Pros
- Heavy Weight – These dumbbells go a little heavier than many other adjustable dumbbells.
- Fast Change – These are some of the quickest dumbbells to change weight. They are just slower than Nuobells but much faster than Powerblocks and Ironmasters.
- Integrated Sensor – Newer versions of the Bowflex dumbbells have an inbuilt bluetooth sensor that can automatically records sets and reps.
Bowflex Cons
- Large Width – Bowflex dumbbells are quite wide and can be unwieldy during some exercises. Unfortunately these dumbbells don’t get smaller the light the weight. So even if you’re lifting 2kg, they will still feel large.
- Mechanism Isn’t Super Smooth – Get the dumbbells in and out of the stand can sometimes be a little slow. The mechanism is reasonably smooth but not as smooth as some of dumbbells I’ve tested and can need the odd jiggle.
The Best Bowflex Dumbbell Alternatives
Norflex Adjustable Dumbbells
The Norflex Adjustable Dumbbells are very similar to the original Bowflex dumbbells and use the same type of adjustment mechanism. If you’re looking for the closest alternative, the Norflex are a great option.
Powertrain Dumbbells
The Powertrain Dumbbells which are available for various Australian retailers are also very similar to Bowflex dumbbells. I’m not a huge fan of the switching mechanism in the Powertrain dumbbells and in my testing it was a little finicky. But overall they make a pretty solid alternative to the Bowflex.
Nuobell Dumbbells
If you’re looking for the best adjustable dumbbell then you can’t go past Nuobells. I’ve been using the Nuobells for the past year and they are by far the best adjustable dumbbell I’ve ever used. The big downside is the price. You are going to pay a lot more for these Dumbbells. I do think they’re worth it.
